 ‘Let’s see them aliens’: 300K people are signed up to ‘Storm Area 51’

The truth is out there in the Nevada desert, and there are thousands of conspiracy theorists ready to find it.

The Facebook the event, called “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us,” has nearly 300,000 confirmed attendees, and some 324,000 interested in the mission.

“We will all meet up at the Area 51 Alien Center tourist attraction and coordinate our entry. If we naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Let's see them, aliens,” the event description reads.

Many of the users that have signed up for the event are alien activists.

Users have formulated plans for the event, including a “naruto run," different job groups for the “Stormers" and diagrams detailing how the storm would occur.

Despite the event being a prank, many users are teasing the event with screenshots of prices for flight tickets, playfully encouraging others to buy their own.

“Alrighty ladies and gents let’s make sure to book those flights now!” one user wrote, with a screenshot of flight prices to Las Vegas near the Area 51 military base.

That the base is almost certainly connected to the US development of experimental aircraft only fans the flames of conspiracy.

The heavily guarded borders of Area 51 are marked out by manifold posts and signs warning folk of the restricted area, and motion detectors will alert the "camo dudes" to unauthorised entry.

So it goes without saying that the Facebook event is an absolutely stupid idea. One woo-heavy website claims an intruder was shot dead by guards as recently as January.

However, it's equally conceivable that the US militarywill be taking the risk seriously – because these type of things can get out of hand.
